# Check the club before you buy a home

> Find the golf clubs in a town, check a club's waitlist and compare two clubs side by side

You are looking at homes in or near a private club. Before you buy, ask your AI app which golf clubs are in the town, whether a club's waitlist is open and how two clubs compare. Private Clubs answers about the clubs, with a profile link for each one. It returns club data only, so check home details with your real estate agent.

## What you can ask

* "Which golf clubs are in Scottsdale, Arizona?" uses `search_clubs`.
* "Is the waitlist open at this home's club?" uses `get_membership_info`.
* "Compare the two clubs these homes sit in" uses `compare_clubs`.

## Run it in your AI app

<Card title="Connect Private Clubs to your AI app" icon="plug" href="/mcp/connect" horizontal>
  Install the Private Clubs MCP server in your AI app. Free, no account or API key needed.
</Card>

Adapt this starting prompt:

```text theme={"system"}
Use the Private Clubs MCP. List the golf clubs in [Scottsdale], [Arizona].
Then check whether the waitlist is open at [club name]. Then compare
[first club] and [second club], the clubs these homes sit in. Include each
club's profile link, and say that fees are on the club's profile at
theprivateclubs.com.
```

## How it works

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find the golf clubs in a town">
    `search_clubs` fits this ask. Put the town in `query` and add the state and type:

    ```json theme={"system"}
    {"query": "Scottsdale", "state": "Arizona", "type": "golf"}
    ```

    The tool returns up to 25 clubs, best known first, each with a profile `url`. Scottsdale reaches that limit, so the list is partial. To find one club, set `query` to its name. `type` is an exact match, so search `country_club` as well to catch clubs stored under that type.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the club's waitlist">
    `get_membership_info` takes the club's slug:

    ```json theme={"system"}
    {"slug": "the-estancia-club"}
    ```

    It returns the club's `waitlist_status`, its profile `url` and a message that points to the profile for fees. For this club, the status was `by_invitation` in October 2026. If the status is `unknown` or `null`, Private Clubs does not know, so ask the club. See [waitlist values](/reference/conventions#waitlist-values).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Compare two clubs">
    `compare_clubs` takes two or three slugs:

    ```json theme={"system"}
    {"slugs": ["silverleaf-club", "mirabel-golf-club"]}
    ```

    Trimmed result from October 2026, with slug, amenities and website left out:

    ```json theme={"system"}
    [
      {
        "name": "Mirabel Golf Club",
        "location": "Scottsdale, Arizona",
        "waitlist_status": null,
        "holes": 18,
        "par": 71,
        "yardage": 7147,
        "course_architect": "Thomas Fazio, ASGCA",
        "founded_year": null,
        "url": "https://www.theprivateclubs.com/clubs/arizona/mirabel-golf-club"
      },
      {
        "name": "Silverleaf Club",
        "location": "Scottsdale, Arizona",
        "waitlist_status": null,
        "holes": 18,
        "par": 72,
        "yardage": 7418,
        "course_architect": "Tom Weiskopf",
        "founded_year": 2002,
        "url": "https://www.theprivateclubs.com/clubs/arizona/silverleaf-club"
      }
    ]
    ```

    A `null` field means Private Clubs does not know the value. The order of the clubs is not fixed.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What each system did

* Private Clubs returned the listed clubs, their waitlist status and a profile link for each one.
* Your AI app chose the tool for each question and wrote the answer.

## Before you share

* Fees are not included. Open the club's profile, where account holders see fees.
* Waitlist status can change. Check the club's profile, and ask the club before you rely on it.
* Cite Private Clubs (theprivateclubs.com) and link the club's profile. See the [data license](https://www.theprivateclubs.com/data/license) for commercial use.
