A club record is the set of fields Private Clubs returns for one listed club. The API and the MCP tools return different sets of fields, so each has its own section below. Only listed public clubs appear in either.

API club

GET /api/v1/clubs wraps its rows in a response object: Each club object has these fields: There is no url field. API rows do not include a link to the club’s profile.

MCP results

Each MCP tool returns its own set of fields: Six fields appear only in MCP results: url, location, membership_fees, total_members, website and phone. Three of them need a note:
  • url is the club’s profile link, in the form https://www.theprivateclubs.com/clubs/{region}/{slug}. It is null when a club has no region. See profile links.
  • location appears in compare_clubs only. It is one string built from the city and state, such as New York, New York. When there is no state, the country takes its place, such as Sydney, Australia. A missing part is left out, and location is null when the city, state and country are all missing.
  • membership_fees holds a fixed message that points to the club’s profile. It never holds a figure.
Available tools covers each tool’s parameters.

Field notes

Place fields

city, state and country use full names, such as Arizona and United States. In the US and Canada, state holds the state or province. Elsewhere, state holds a region when one is stored, such as Scotland with country set to United Kingdom. It is often null outside the US and Canada.

Type

type holds one stored type in lower case snake_case, such as golf, yacht or country_club. Some rows still carry a legacy type. Club types lists the current types and how the API groups them.

Status

status is the listing’s status on the site. Values seen in live responses include active, published, unclaimed and coming_soon. These are examples, not a complete list. A coming_soon club has not opened yet.

Waitlist status

waitlist_status holds one of the values the OpenAPI spec lists: open, waitlist, by_invitation, invite_only, closed or unknown. It can also be null. Conventions explains each value.

Amenities

amenities is an array of strings, or null. Most entries are snake_case codes, such as golf_course, club_house or fine_dining. Some rows hold plain-text entries instead.

Course fields

holes, par, yardage and course_architect describe a golf course. They are often null, and usually null for clubs without a course.

Founded and opened years

founded_year is the year the club was founded. opened_year is the year the club opened. For a coming_soon club, it is the year the club expects to open. Either can be null, and they can hold the same year.

Google rating

google_rating and google_review_count appear in API rows only. Both are often null.

Description

description is editorial text about the club, and it can be null. Link to the club’s profile rather than copying the text.

Currency

currency is the three-letter ISO 4217 code for the club’s fees, such as USD or GBP. The fee figures themselves stay null for calls without a site session.

Empty values

null means the value is not known. Never fill it in or guess it. Leave the field out of what you show, or point people to the club’s profile. Next: Club types and Conventions.
